Artifical Intelligence (AI) has been a hot research topic in recent years. Last year, ChatGPT took the world by storm: since its release, within 5 days, it gathered over 1 million users. Other AI technologies such as DALL-E, Stable Diffusion, and Midjourney, are also attracting attention around the world. The performance of these AI technologies is amazing and also terrifying. AI is no doubt the disruptive technology that will fundamentally change the way we work and live. Have you ever wondered how to use AI to your advantage, to improve your productivity, to increase your creativity or to enhance your career? Join this one day AI training course, packed with information about AI tools and resouces, with a hands-on workshop so that you can try different AI tools yourself.
The One Day AI programme provides an introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) and shows participants how it is being applied today. The course is aimed at non-technical persons, with no prior experience of working with AI, or anyone with an interest in finding out more about this field of technological development.
Participants will learn about the history of AI, how AI is being applied and future trends in AI.
There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, a professional, or general, interest in the field of AI is useful.
This course is designed for ambitious professionals that are not necessarily from computing/IT backgrounds. It is for people from different career backgrounds, who are keen to learn more about AI, how to use AI to automate daily tasks, and how to apply AI tools to advance their career. Previous programming experience is useful but not essential.
The one-day course runs a morning and an afternoon session.
The morning session begins with an introduction to AI and the history of AI and the latest developments in ATI, such as GPT3, ChatGPT, Midjourney, Stable Diffusion, DALL-E and so on.
The afternoon session will be focused on hands-on workshops, in which you will not only learn some practical tutorials, but also have a chance to work on your own preferred project.

On completing One Day AI, participants will benefit from a clear understanding of AI and how it can be applied. The interactive, hands-on workshop based, sessions within the one-day programme will provide participants with ideas about how they might adopt AI in their business or place of work.
One Day AI is taught by Professor Perry Xiao, who heads the BioEngineering Research Centre at LSBU’s School of Engineering. Perry is a fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology and a senior fellow of Higher Education Academy. He is also a director and co-founder of Biox Systems, a university spin-out that has designed a novel sensing technologies used in the FMCG and cosmetics industries.
The course will be taught in person at LSBU's Southwark Campus.
This one day course will total approximately 6 hours and be comprised of two sessions, beginning at 10:00 and finishing at 16:00.
There is no formal assessment for this course. Each participant that attends the full course will be given a completion certificate.
There is no formal accreditation for this course. By the end participants will have a comprehensive understanding of AI and be able to develop ideas about how AI could potentially be applied within their place of work.
