The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) Strategic Business Leader (SBL) course is part of the Strategic Professional Level of the ACCA qualification. 

Delegates will learn to apply and evaluate the concepts, principles and practices that underpin preparation and interpretation of corporate reports. 

LSBU is an ACCA Silver Learning Partner and our learning materials are ACCA approved.

Participants need to have completed the ACCA Applied Skills level exams in order to take the course. 

The ACCA SBL course is for ambitious individuals working in accountancy, or related fields, who have completed the Applied Skills Level of the ACCA qualification and are looking to become business or financial leaders. 

The SBL preparation and revision programme will address key aspects of the ACCA SBL exam. Participants will learn how to exercise professional judgement in the application and evaluation of financial reporting principles and practices in a range of business contexts and situations.

By the end of the programme participants will be fully prepared to take the SBL exam. 

This course is taught by Joe Adomako. Joe is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting in the School of Business, at LSBU, and teaches in the area of financial reporting, as well as theories and issues in accounting and finance. Joe is a fellow of the ACCA. 

The 20-week programme includes weekly three-hour face-to-face sessions taught by the course leader. These take place every Tuesday evening, 18:00-21:00, allowing delegates to fit the course around work commitments. 

Participants are expected to undertake 2 hours of self-led work a week, including homework assignments, to complete the course. There are also mock exams. 

The sessions are hosted in LSBU’s Keyworth Building situated in the Southwark Campus. Elephant and Castle is the nearest tube station. The building hosts a café serving hot and cold food and refreshments. 

This course will total approximately 60 hours of teaching time, running 3-hour sessions over 20 weeks. Participants will be expected to dedicate 2 hours per week to self-led study.

The ACCA SBL programme is a revision-based course in preparation for actual exams.

The pass is awarded by the ACCA.
