This new LSBU neurodiversity awareness workshop equips practice assessors and supervisors with the knowledge to foster an inclusive learning environment. This will be done by understanding the common neurodiversity conditions, the Equality Act 2010 requirements and their protected characteristics, and NMC standards requirements. This initiative will address the challenges and barriers neurodivergent students face at practice, possible reasonable accommodations to support students with Dyslexia at placement, and assistive technology.

This workshop is for practice assessors and supervisors trained to evaluate nursing students' competencies in the clinical setting. The clinical professionals will gain a better understanding of, teach and assess neurodivergent students in a clinical setting.

On completion of this workshop, you will be able to :

• Understand neurodiversity
• Be mindful of the Equality Act 2010 and protected characteristics
• Explore challenges and barriers for neurodivergent students at practice
• Examine possible reasonable accommodations to support students with Dyslexia at placement
• Learn how assistive technology supports neurodivergent students

Upon completion, participants will receive a certificate.
