This workshop is based on the Wheel Framework (https://doi.org/10.1177/27526461231154014) developed by Musharrat Ahmed- Landeryou and has been developed to support Higher Education Institutions in decolonising education. The purpose of the workshop is to introduce you to the theory of decolonising and the application of the wheel framework to develop your context specific decolonising strategy. This is package 3 of 3: each package builds on the previous and has been developed to create supportive, sustainable work within your University. 

The workshop was developed from Musharrat’s work in supporting some university departments and courses as a response to Musharrat’s paper and many conference presentations nationally and internationally. The workshop is centred and developed from the evidence informed Decolonising the Curriculum Wheel Framework that Musharrat has developed.

This package covers: 

• Preparatory meetings to ensure the workshop is tailored to your organisational requirements.
• 1 online workshop (9am - 5pm).
• Provision of learning outcomes and handouts post workshop, that provide step-by-step instructions to implement learning.
• A follow up half day online discussion, including sharing and analysis of relevant data.
• A final report of themes and actions.
• 3 group mentorship sessions (2 hours each) to be delivered over a year.

Background information to set the context for the approach Clarification of terminology Introduction on how to apply construct, using the Wheel Framework

Upon completion of this package, attendees will be able to:

• Demonstrate an understanding of the term decolonising.
• Demonstrate an understanding of the process of applying the decolonising approach.
• Demonstrate an understanding of why the method centers Black and minoritised participants.
• Progress on your organisation's journey of decolonising.
• Have tangible actions to guide your work.
• Have the opportunity to discuss and review your organisation's commitment to its decolonialising strategy.

Decolonising your curriculum- Package 3 consists of 1 day-long online workshop and one 0.5 day online workshop, plus 3 x 2hr mentorship sessions made available to organisations over a year.
